All prices on this site are in US dollars. Please always make payment in US dollars. (Any other currency payments are not accepted.)
Payment methods
PayPal - Fast, secure, flexible
PayPal is an online payment system that allows you to send and receive money around the world.You can link your bank account, credit card, or debit card. You can also set up a PayPal Balance account.
PayPal Checkout (instant payments) are available. You can also send money to our PayPal account, or using PayPal.Me.
As for PayPal Checkout, you need to complete the payment every time you place an order.

Direct credit card payment
We accept MasterCard and VISA.Transactions are always handled by UnivaPay (UNIVA Paycast Co., Ltd.).
Once the order was placed successfully, you will be asked for the direct credit card payment in the next page after confirming your order.
Unless you completed the payment in the next page successfully, the direct credit card payment is not accepted.
In case of the credit card payment was failed for some reason, it is the only way to make payment on PayPal.
(If you have difficulty to use PayPal, we end up asking you to order them by yourself again after we canceled the order.)
Payment due date
Please complete the payment within 7 days from the date of purchase.Unless the payment is confirmed by due, the order will be canceled. (Once the order is canceled, it will no longer be retrieved.)
Holding Items
Items can be held for up to 7 days (including weekends) from the date of first purchase in order to combine with future purchases.* We cannot hold items that have already been packed/shipped, or you have not ordered yet.
If you have any requests about holding items and/or combining the multiple orders, please contact us in advance.

Customs issues, weather/traffic conditions, postal strikes, and other factors can all contribute to delays.
UPS (United Parcel Service) is available for the shipment to the following countries.

If UPS is NOT available service to the destination country, we proceed with your order by either EMS or Airmail instead.
* If you prefer UPS as an expedite shipping, please select EMS upon check-out.
* After changing the shipping method, handling fee will be also higher and possibly need to pay extra fee. (The difference from the amount you initially paid for will be refunded if it was significantly overcharged.)
* All SAL services are currently suspended.
Shipping Time
Once the order was placed and paid in full, we will proceed with your order within about a week.* New arrival' items, made-to-order items (i.e. AZUMA SUGATA items) and the items stored in our different warehouse will require some more time in order to be delivered to our warehouse. Please allow us an extra time to handle your orders.
Tracking / Insurance
All shipping methods include tracking services and insurance (coverage varies).Tracking numbers are provided when the parcel is ready to be collected, and our automated email (Title: Shipped information) will be sent to your registered email address.
Check the delivery status on each carriers website; Japan Post / UPS.
Especially if you were absent at the time of delivery, normally the courier leaves a failed delivery notice, but this may not always be the case.
Once the designated holding period elapses, your items will be returned to our office in Japan. If your items end up being returned to Japan, we will contact you about reshipment and any relevant postage costs. (Please also check "If the parcel is returned to sender" below.)
Fees / Customs & Taxes
Handling fee
Handling fee will be charged in addition to the item price.(Handling fee includes the shipping fee, the cost of packaging material, labor cost, settlement fees, etc.)

* The amounts are just an estimate, and it is varied subject to the weekly fuel surcharges.
Customs & Taxes
Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price / shipping fee, and these charges are the buyer's responsibility to owe. You may be required to pay a customs fee and/or goods tax when receiving your parcel(s). Tax and duty thresholds vary by country and we unfortunately have no way of knowing what will be charged. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying.
In relation to this matter, we do not accept any request to change the value of the items in order to lower or evade taxes.
Return
Return/Refund policy
Due to the vintage/antique status and delicate nature of our items, we do not accept returns in principle.The kimono which has little defects are categoried vintage kimono enough to wear it actually, and others are categoried antique kimono; in terms of mottai-nai sprit, we have been selling them so-called antique kimono for display purpose, or craft material in order to use even partially.
Check the condition in each photo carefully to help you decide whether to buy.

We will consider a refund if fragile items (that are NOT described as cracked in the description) are delivered in damaged during shipping/delivery. (In this case, please contact us with the photos so that we can see the situation clearly.)
If the parcel is returned to sender
In the event of the parcel being returned to us due to any reason such as "Non-Reclaim" or "Address Unknown" etc., it is the customer's responsibility to owe the return postage from the destination country to Japan.If you prefer reshipment, please pay for the reshipment postage again.
If not, we will refund the item price only. In case of incurring the returned postage, we will subtract that amount from the item price you paid. (Shipping /handling fee will not be refunded.)
If the purchase(s) is delivered in broken (Japan Post)
In the event of a broken item, the insurance requires that both the sender (we, Shinei) and the recipient (you, a customer) submit a damage report. If either party doesn't submit, the insurance becomes invalid.
*Please note that you will need the shipping label in order to complete the damage report.(In the case that your claim has been rejected by your local post office, we ask that you please tell us when you went to the post office, which post office you went to, and who you talked to, if possible.)
*As the customs fees are the recipient's responsibility to pay, we can only give compensation for the broken articles. We are not able to refund the customs fees even if the items are broken.
* If your purchase(s) was delivered by UPS, please refer to the above and contact us as soon as possible.
