Payment currency
All prices on this site are in US dollars. Please always make payment in US dollars. (Any other currency payments are not accepted.)* Even if buyer pays for the order in US dollars via PayPal, the funds may automatically be converted in Japanese Yen and deliver to our PayPal account.
In any case, the payments in any other currency are fully refunded afterwards and we will ask you to pay in US dollars again.

PayPal - Fast, secure, flexible
PayPal is an online payment system that allows you to send and receive money around the world.You can link your bank account, credit card, or debit card. You can also set up a PayPal Balance account.
PayPal Checkout (instant payments) are available. You can also send money to our PayPal account, or using PayPal.Me.
As for PayPal Checkout, you need to complete the payment every time you place an order.

Payment due date
Please complete the payment within 7 days from the date of purchase.Unless the payment is confirmed by due, the order will be canceled. (Once the order is canceled, it will no longer be retrieved.)
Holding Items
Items can be held for up to 7 days (including weekends) from the date of first purchase in order to combine with future purchases.* We cannot hold items that have already been packed/shipped, or you have not ordered yet.
If you have any requests about holding items and/or combining the multiple orders, please contact us in advance.
Order
Place online order
We cannot place online-order on your behalf and/or hold the item in advance to enable you to purchase later on.It is all of your responsibility to order the item by yourself at any time.
Exchange the item you initially ordered
As most items we deal with are one-of-a-kind, we can never "exchange" the item literally.If you prefer exchanging the items after the order was confirmed, please order the item you want on your end, and be sure to let us know which item you prefer canceling.
Note: We do not accept returns/exchanges once you received.
Sale discount setting
Sale discount setting is always eligible for that sale time frame only.Please remember that we cannot add any discount to the order after the sale ended.

As an expedite shipping method, we will use either UPS or EMS, which is cheaper.▼ Surface Mail (Sea Mail)
Due to Japan Post's policy, there are no Surface Mail available to some destination countries.In that case, we will ask you to choose another shipping method. (Extra fee may be required.)
※ Returned postage will be charged to you if your parcel ended up being returned to sender.
▼ Small Packet/Airmail * No longer available after 2025/12/31 JST.
To use this shipping method, the package must correspond the following terms.(1) The total weight must be less than 2kg.
(2) The items must fit into a certain-sized package either paper bag or cardboard box.
To sum up, under 2kg but large in size, or small in size but over 2kg is NOT eligible for this shipping method.
In that case, we will ask you to choose other shipping method instead. (Extra fee may be required.)
Handling time
Once the order was placed and paid in full, we will proceed with your order within about a week.* New arrival' items and the items stored in our different warehouse will require some additional time after order confirmed.
Tracking / Insurance
All shipping methods include tracking services and insurance (coverage varies).Tracking numbers are provided when the parcel is ready to be collected, and our automated email (Title: Shipped information) is sent to your registered email address.
Check the delivery status on each carriers website as often as possible until you certainly receive the package(s).
Japan Post - Shipped by Small packet/Airmail, Surface Mail (The tracking number ends JP.)
UPS - Shipped by UPS (The tracking number starts 1Z.)
Especially if you were absent at the time of delivery, normally the courier leaves a failed delivery notice, but this may not always be the case.
Once the designated holding period elapses, your items will be returned to our office in Japan. If your items end up being returned to Japan, we will contact you about reshipment and any relevant postage costs. (Please also check "If the parcel is returned to sender" below.)
Case 1: The tracking information says "delivered", but I have't received the package yet.
We are afraid we do not take responsibility to compensate anything once the delivery status was "delivered".
Contactless delivery (to leave the package at doorsteps or mailbox etc and complete as delivered) has the somehow risks that someone else took away from there intentionally/neglictly. Even if your package was delivered by these methods, we do not compensate anything.
Please understand the risks in advance and keep your eyes on the tracking updates as frequently as possible in order to receive the parcels in person.

Fees / Customs & Taxes
Handling fee
Handling fee will be charged in addition to the item price.(Handling fee includes the shipping fee, the cost of packaging material, labor cost, settlement fees, etc.)

Japan Post shipments; EMS/Surface/Small Packet
* The weight of each list refers to the weight indicated on the item's page of our website. (Not the weight of the package itself.) Besides, due to one-of-a-kind item, they are slightly different weight even same category item. Therefore, the required handling fee may rarely end up being more than the amount upon check-out.
* The handling fees in the list are just an estimate, and they may be varied subject to the weekly fuel surcharges, for instance.
* (If you chose small packet/Airmail especially) Please understand in advance that we may ask you to change the shipping method and pay for the extra handling fee if the item(s) weighs less than 2kg but does not fit into a certain-sized package for small packet/Airmail.
Customs & Taxes
Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price / shipping fee, and these charges are the buyer's responsibility to owe. You may be required to pay a customs fee and/or goods tax when receiving your parcel(s). Tax and duty thresholds vary by country and we unfortunately have no way of knowing what will be charged. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying.
In relation to this matter, we do not accept any request to change the value of the items in order to lower or evade taxes.
Return
Return/Refund policy
Due to the vintage/antique status and delicate nature of our items, we do not accept returns in principle.The kimono which has little defects are categoried vintage kimono enough to wear it actually, and others are categoried antique kimono; in terms of mottai-nai sprit, we have been selling them so-called antique kimono for display purpose, or craft material in order to use even partially.
Check the condition in each photo carefully to help you decide whether to buy.

We will consider a refund if fragile items (that are NOT described as cracked in the description) are delivered in damaged during shipping/delivery. (In this case, please contact us with the photos so that we can see the situation clearly.)
If the parcel is returned to sender
In the event of the parcel being returned to us due to any reason such as "Non-Reclaim" or "Address Unknown" etc., it is the customer's responsibility to owe the return postage from the destination country to Japan.If you prefer reshipment, please pay for the reshipment postage again.
If not, we will refund the item price only. In case of incurring the returned postage, we will subtract that amount from the item price you paid. (Shipping /handling fee will not be refunded.)
If the purchase(s) is delivered in broken (Japan Post)
In the event of a broken item, the insurance requires that both the sender (we, Shinei) and the recipient (you, a customer) submit a damage report. If either party doesn't submit, the insurance becomes invalid.
*Please note that you will need the shipping label in order to complete the damage report.(In the case that your claim has been rejected by your local post office, we ask that you please tell us when you went to the post office, which post office you went to, and who you talked to, if possible.)
*As the customs fees are the recipient's responsibility to pay, we can only give compensation for the broken articles. We are not able to refund the customs fees even if the items are broken.
* If your purchase(s) was delivered by UPS, please refer to the above and contact us as soon as possible.
