The Tale of Genji (Genji Monogatari) is a classic Japanese novel composed of 54 chapters written by a Heian court lady, Murasaki Shikibu in the 11th Century. The story is about the life and loves of a handsome son named Hikaru Genji, born to an Emperor during the Heian Period.
